This is an e-learning course which is accessed online. You can access the course 24/7, and there is no time limit on how long you take to complete the training material. The content of this course maps to industry standards and is aimed at anyone working in (***). We regularly update our courses to ensure your training is in line with current legislation. In logging in to our secure Learning Management System (LMS) to access the course, you can leave the training partway through, safe in the knowledge it will automatically return to the same point the next time you log in to continue.
On completion of this course and assessment you will understand:

- Your personal and legal responsibilities
- The impact of food-borne illness
- Your responsibilities with regard to food law
- How food becomes contaminated
- How to prevent contamination through good hygiene practices
- How to control contamination through safe temperatures and storage
- The importance of good personal hygiene standards
- How to use a Food Safety Management System based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.
On average we find it takes people between 2 and 3 hours to complete the training, depending on your individual learning speed. An advantage of e-learning is that unlike a classroom session, you can complete the training at your own pace. At the end of the course you will complete a short assessment to ensure you have understood the learning content. The required pass mark is 75% but don’t worry, if you don’t pass first time you can review the course and try again at no additional cost. Of all learners, 99.5% have successfully passed this course!
Upon successfully passing the assessment you will be issued a City & Guilds accredited certificate.

Completing an e-learning course is simple. Just click ‘Buy Now’ and add your course(s) to the basket. When you go to the checkout you will be asked to register your details and pay for the course using our secure checkout.
You can purchase for yourself and/or other learners. After making your payment and entering learner information, login details will be emailed to you automatically and training can begin straightaway - just follow the link in the email and you’ll be taken to the Virtual College Learning Management System (LMS). If you have bought courses for more than 10 learners, you will need to set up your free monitor login. After you have received your login details you will have access to the training for a full 12 months, so there is no need to complete the training in a hurry.

When you have finished the training material, the Learning Management System (LMS) will allow you to complete your assessment; you can start the assessment straightaway or wait until a time that suits you. If you choose the option to print your own certificate, it will be available instantly in the Learning Management System (LMS). If you have chosen to have a foil stamped certificate posted to you, it will be sent the same day (or next working day if completed after 12:00pm).
